Stainless Steel 17-7 PH Bolts are made mostly of steel with 17% chromium, 7% nickel, and a trace amount of aluminum for precipitation hardening. This special composition can be heat-treated for enhanced mechanical strength and hardness. Such bolts have high tensile strength, superior resistance to fatigue, and toughness over a wide range of temperatures. They are resistant to stress corrosion cracking and oxidation, and therefore find applications where the operating conditions are stringent. Mechanical properties include tensile strength greater than 1100 MPa, and hardness of 35–43 HRC, depending on the heat-treated condition.
