Stainless Steel 317/317L Nuts are constructed using an austenitic stainless steel alloy with a chromium content of around 18–20%, nickel content of 11–15%, and molybdenum content of 3–4%, with low carbon content in 317L for enhanced weldability. These nuts have a superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical attack in chloride-containing and acidic environments. They have high tensile strength, good creep strength, and high mechanical stability at higher temperatures. The 317L grade avoids carbide precipitation on welding, and hence it is ideal for delicate assemblies. Their strength, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability provide long-term reliability under harsh service conditions.
