AISI 347 stainless steel stabilised with columbium (niobium) is used to make ASTM A193 B8C bolts. For carbide stabilisation, the usual composition consists of 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, ≤1% manganese, ≤1% silicon, and columbium.
